Fager bits - Gustav - Sweet Iron - Baby pelham
Fager Gustav could be suitable for you if you describe your horse as follows:
- Uneven in the hand.
- Sensitive but still strong.
- Does not seek contact with the bit, raises its neck, or tenses high in the poll.
- Loses contact and feels unstable.
Gustav is made of 100% extra-smooth material, even around the joints, which are designed never to interfere with or press against the palate. It is a very comfortable bit that naturally molds around the tongue, easing constant pressure on the bars.
The straight, thin design enhances aids, creating more direct and precise communication than ever before. The Baby Pelham cheekpiece creates a frame-like feel for horses that tend to be unstable but are still strong.
We recommend using the Baby Pelham with adjustable Fager delta reins or with two reins, one on the large fixed ring and one on the small ring.
With two reins, you can easily adjust how much leverage you want from the bit by shortening or lengthening the curb rein attached to the lowest small ring. More leverage gives a slightly lower head and neck position, as well as more effect; with less leverage, you can get the horse a little higher in the neck with less leverage. If you use Fager's adjustable delta, you have the same adjustment possibility without having to use two reins.
This cheekpiece acts as a leverage version of a Baucher bit.
